Air India deploys A350 on double daily Delhi-Heathrow route

Air India8 Air India has upgraded its flagship Delhi-London Heathrow route with deployment of its new Airbus A350-900 jets.

This twice-daily service is the first long-haul flight with the aircraft and launches the airline’s new A350 in-flight service.

It has a three-class configuration with full-flat beds in Business Class, and upgraded Premium Economy.

Campbell Wilson, Air India’s CEO & MD, said: “This is going beyond just meeting customer expectations as we continue to grow and renew our fleet.”

The A350 has so far been deployed on key domestic routes and internationally from Delhi to Dubai.

Air India has so far received six of the 40 A350s it ordered last year.

The A350 replaces Boeing 777-300ER and some Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners on the London Heathrow route on 14 of the 17 weekly flights.

It adds an extra 336 seats per week on the route.

It comes as Air India announced November 11 as the date for completion of its merger with sister brand Vistara.
