BA restarting Melbourne flights after two decades

From January 2027, BA will restart daily services to Melbourne Airport services from London Heathrow via Kuala Lumpur.

The flag carrier ended Melbourne flights back in 2006.

Since then, BA customers have been able to book Melbourne flights via the oneworld alliance with Qantas.

BA relaunches the route on January 11 2027 aboard Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

It features First Class, Club World business class, premium economy and World Traveller economy.

With the KL stopover the total travel time is about 23 hours.

“Melbourne Airport is now the clear choice for Europeans heading to Australia or Australians looking to travel abroad.

British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer Neil Chernoff added: “We have a long history of connecting Britain and Australia, and we’re excited to be returning to this great city.”
