China Eastern Airlines launching world’s longest flight

BUENOS Aires China Eastern Airlines (MU) is set to launch the world’s longest direct passenger flight, from Shanghai to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

It kicks off on December 4, 2025 and although a direct service, it features a layover in Auckland, with passengers remaining on the same aircraft.

At over 12,200 miles the total journey time is up to 29 hours.

The service will operate twice weekly, outbound from Shanghai on Mondays and Thursdays, and returning from Buenos Aires on Tuesdays and Fridays.

China Eastern will offer a three-class service of First, Business, and Economy.
