Delta orders more A350 jets

It sealed a firm order with Airbus for 31 planes comprising 16 A330-900s and 15 A350-900s.

Once following delivery, the Delta A350 fleet will number 79 aircraft.

“These aircraft will enhance our capabilities and elevate our premium offerings,” said CEO Ed Bastian.

“With these widebody aircraft we will see additional operational efficiencies and long-term cost benefits in the years to come.”

Delta Air Lines’ current Airbus fleet numbers more than 500 aircraft from the A220 to the A350-900.

Delta’s current Airbus order backlog is around 200 aircraft.

The new jets will be powered by the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.

Delta has an outstanding order for 20 A350-1000, the largest A350 variant, which are expected to be delivered starting next year.

The airline also recently confirmed an order for 30 of the largest variant of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
