Emirates banning power bank use on all flights

Power Bank Gulf carrier Emirates is banning the use of all power banks onboard flights, effective from 1 October 2025.

It relates to all portable, rechargeable devices used to power up phones, tablets, laptops and cameras.

Emirates passengers will still be permitted to carry one power bank under 100-watt hours but it may not be used while in the aircraft cabin.

To be accepted on the flight, power bank capacity rating information must be displayed the airline said.

Additionally, power banks should be placed in the seat pocket or in a bag under the seat in front

As already stipulated, power banks are not permitted in checked luggage.

The airline made the rule adjustment after a comprehensive safety review.

There has been a significant growth in customers using power banks in recent years, resulting in an increasing number of lithium battery-related incidents onboard flights.

Emirates believes new regulations will significantly reduce risks associated with power banks.
