Flight halted as pilot forgets passport

The United Airlines pilot forgot to bring a passport.

After departing Los Angeles United flight UA198 diverted to San Francisco.

It was in the air for nearly two hours when it turned back.

Passengers were told the diversion was due to an ‘unexpected crew-related issue requiring a new crew.’

Passengers deplaned at San Francisco and were given food vouchers, while a replacement crew was found.

The flight eventually landed in Shanghai six hours late.
