Government backs Heathrow Airport’s third runway plan

Heathrow 17581501890328 The UK has confirmed its backing for Heathrow Airport’s multi-billion pound expansion and upgrade.

The government had already given a tacit approval for a third runway and related expansion.

The decision follows a pledge to construct a third runway and the plan includes about £15 billion of already agreed upgrade work.

The Heathrow plan was given the official green light amid a rival, cheaper proposal from Arora Group.

A third Heathrow runway is targeted for completion by 2035, with final planning consent expected by 2029.

The government said the Heathrow proposal was picked as the ‘most deliverable option’ to meet this timeline.
