Hong Kong most iconic building to add bold dining and bar concepts

HENDERSON Opened in summer 2024, the Henderson is Hong Kong’s new iconic landmark designed by the world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects.

The skyscraper now invites taste-makers on a new journey. The launch of three groundbreaking dining and bar concepts, set to debut in Q4 2025, will become Central District’s newest skyward multi-experience destination.

Building on the triumph of Cloud 39—Hong Kong’s highest rooftop all-glass ballroom, launched in late 2024 and now a global icon for elite events—the new offerings craft an imaginative vertical journey of ascending the peak from the vibrant flavours of AKIRA BACK on the 5th floor to Summit 38, a multifaceted dining and events spaces, culminating in the ethereal heights of Cloud 39. This positions The Henderson as the city’s premier destination for those who crave elevated experiences.

Akira Back on the 5th floor marks the Hong Kong debut of one of the world’s celebrity chefs, while Summit 38, positioned just beneath Cloud 39, stands as another crowning peak of the building.

From terroir-driven cocktails, plant-based haute-cuisine and one-of-a-kind live entertainment at Peridot to the intricate craftsmanship of Japanese kappou dining at Hana no Kumo, Summit 38 is set to become a beacon for connoisseurs and taste-makers, offering an elevated culinary experience where world-class gastronomy meets visionary design in perfect harmony. Its event spaces, named after some of the world’s most iconic peaks, evoke a spirit of exploration and excellence. Together, these distinctive spaces celebrate the exceptional skills of culinary artists and interior designers.

Akira Back to be unveiled at the Henderson
The odyssey begins at AKIRA BACK, the highly anticipated first Hong Kong venture by the world-renowned maestro. The restaurant is opening on the 5th floor of The Henderson this September. With a culinary empire spanning over 27 locations worldwide, Chef Back’s innovative approach has earned numerous accolades, including a Michelin Star for Dosa. Born in Seoul, raised in Aspen, Chef Back’s unique journey as a former professional snowboarder offering a harmonious blend of Korean heritage and Western influences. At Akira Back Hong Kong, creativity meets Japanese-Korean cuisine with an American flair, offering a fresh and bold dining experience rooted in both tradition and innovation.

Designed by Hong Kong architectural and interior design studio AB Concept, the restaurant is a “culinary symphony” that reflects the innovative spirit of its namesake. The restaurant’s interiors elevate the dining experience further, featuring artistic elements such as plates adorned with artwork by Chef Back’s mother, Young Hee Back, and a private dining room showcasing graffiti-inspired designs derived from her paintings.

Peridot and Hana no Kumo to Debut at Summit 38 Sky-High Venue
Soaring up to Summit 38 on the 38th floor, this sky-high lifestyle and dining destination is designed to be Asia’s premier elevated hospitality experience for connoisseurs and tastemakers. Featuring luxurious event spaces named after the world’s most iconic mountain peaks, Summit 38 will unveil two exceptional dining concepts—Peridot and Hana no Kumo—in October 2025.

Peridot introduces a new chapter in Asia’s bar and dining culture with its terroir-driven cocktails, a daring approach to plant-based haute cuisine and one-of-a-kind live entertainment. Peridot’s interiors embody the philosophy of “Natural Futurism” with glowing glass accents, sculptural marble surfaces, and a signature light green palette.

Hana no Kumo celebrates the artistry of Japanese Kappou cuisine under the stewardship of Executive Chef Ogawa Masaru. With its Kyoto-inspired interiors, Hana no Kumo evokes nostalgic memories of Kyoto, creating an elegant outdoor dining experience. The ceiling, adorned with delicate petal motifs and dynamic colour-shifting lighting, reflects the enchanting moments of a flower’s bloom. Complementing this culinary mastery is an exquisite selection of sake, featuring Japan’s finest regional brews, award-winning vintages, and innovative flavours.

Peridot and Hana no Kumo will debut in October 2025, while the event spaces at Summit 38 will accept reservation inquiries in late 2025.
