This brings the total firm order to 80 aircraft.
In connection with the option, Norwegian and Boeing have agreed to adjust some delivery dates, with the full order set to complete delivery in 2031.
In May 2022, Norwegian announced an agreement to purchase 50 Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, along with the non-binding option.
The airline says the updated delivery schedule enables a balanced renewal of Norwegian’s fleet, which is closely aligned with lease expiries and market developments.
It also means Norwegian’s fleet will become more fuel-efficient generating lower operating costs.
“This milestone aircraft order is on attractive terms and secures our fleet growth in a way that supports our planned growth and sustainability targets,” said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.
