United to take flight to Mongolia

Ulaanbatur United Airlines just announced its largest international expansion with five new routes never served before by a US airline.

It includes a landmark fifth freedom flight to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Mongolia flights will depart from Tokyo/Narita launching May 1.

United will be the only US airline to serve Mongolia, with seasonal nonstop service from Japan.

Nearly half a million people have visited Mongolia so far in 2024, up 25% compared to 2023.

Most of that increase is generated from Europe, South Korea and Japan – and United’s new service from Tokyo/Narita will give Americans a new, one-stop connection.

Starting July 11, United will also fly to Kaohsiung, Taiwan from Tokyo.

United also announced five new nonstop flights from its Newark/New York hub to destinations no other US airline serves.

These include Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Bilbao, Madeira and Faro, Portugal.

United’s summer 2025 transatlantic schedule will be the largest in its history with more than 760 weekly flights.

In addition to new flights, the Venice, Athens and Barcelona seasonal routes will have earlier start dates next summer.

The airline will also increase the number of weekly direct flights between Newark/New York and Palma de Mallorca, Dubrovnik and Athens.

United will offer a total of 800 daily flights to and from 147 international destinations – including 40 that no other US airline serves.

“No other airline gives customers nonstop access to as many unique international destinations as United,” said Patrick Quayle, SVP of Global Network Planning and Alliances.

United will also add a year-round, nonstop flight between Tokyo/Narita to Koror, Palau, joining existing connections to Palau from Guam and Manila.
