Wizz Air and the Lufthansa Group resume flights to Tel Aviv

Picture1 (3) Wizz Air and the Lufthansa Group announced to resume flights to and from Tel Aviv, following updated guidance from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The latter recently softened its advisory regarding operations in Israeli airspace.

Wizz Air will resume flights to and from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport on May 28, restoring a network of 22 routes spanning 10 European countries after suspending operations during the Iran-Israel conflict.

The Hungarian low-cost carrier said the renewed schedule will include destinations such as Athens, Bucharest, Budapest, Krakow, Larnaca, London-Gatwick and -Luton, Milan, Rome, Sofia, Venice and Warsaw among others, reconnecting Israel with major leisure and business markets across Europe.

Wizz Air said the restart reflects continued coordination “with international and local authorities, including aviation and security bodies, alongside its overriding commitment to ensuring safe operations.”

The carrier added it will continue monitoring developments closely while maintaining regular contact with aviation safety and government authorities. The airline had previously outlined plans to establish an operational base in Israel before the conflict disrupted expansion efforts.

Austrian Airlines, first in the Lufthansa Group to fly to Tel Aviv
In parallel, the Lufthansa Group indicated that flights to Tel Aviv will gradually resume in a very prudent way, starting in June 2026. This decision follows a comprehensive safety and security assessment.

Initially, Austrian Airlines will restart their operations to Tel Aviv starting 1 June 2026, offering a daily flight.

For the other airlines belonging to the Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa and Swiss plan to resume flights as early as 1 July 2026; Eurowings is expected to return to Tel Aviv by mid-July 2026, while Brussels Airlines confirms to have suspended operations to Tel Aviv through 24 October 2026.
