Air Europa to launch Madrid-San Salvador in winter

The new service begins on December 17. It will further strengthens the airline’s presence in Central America, where it already operates direct flights to Honduras and Panama.

The route will operate three times weekly using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Flights will depart Madrid-Barajas Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 11:55 p.m. Return services from San Salvador will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing at 12:10 p.m.

Air Europa said El Salvador has strengthened its position in recent years as one of Central America’s most attractive destinations, making it a strategic addition to the carrier’s growing long-haul network.

The new route also coincides with the rollout of the airline’s Air Europa ON program, a customer experience initiative designed to enhance every stage of the journey, both in the air and on the ground. Business Class travellers on the San Salvador route will be among the first to benefit from several premium upgrades, including redesigned amenity kits, a refreshed beverage selection, and access to dedicated premium airport buses at Madrid-Barajas for apron transfers.

The San Salvador launch forms part of Air Europa’s wider network expansion strategy for the year. The carrier already introduced new services to Oviedo, Seville, Geneva, and Johannesburg, while also increasing summer capacity on routes to Bologna and Tangier.

Air Europa continues to invest in its long-haul operations with the fuel-efficient Boeing 787 Dreamliner, supporting its strategy of expanding connectivity between Spain, Latin America, and other international markets.
