Legendary Danieli Hotel in Venezia reopens as Four Seasons property

The reopening strengthens Four Seasons’ presence in Italy, adding a fourth property to its growing portfolio after Florence, Milan and Taormina.

Originally built in 1471 as the residence of the noble Dandolo family, Palazzo Dandolo remains one of Venice’s finest examples of Gothic architecture. The hotel also incorporates Palazzo Casa Nuova, once home to the Venetian Republic’s Treasury, while restoration work continues on Palazzo Danieli Excelsior, due for completion in 2027.
The hotel currently offers 120 guestrooms and suites, with inventory increasing to 168 rooms once the final phase of restoration is complete next year.
Historical splendours and modern technology
French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon led the redesign of the historic interiors, drawing inspiration from Venice’s lagoon, architecture and craftsmanship. Murano glass, Venetian mirrors, terrazzo flooring and bespoke Rubelli textiles feature throughout the property, while restored ceilings, stonework and original architectural details preserve the building’s historic character.
Guestrooms have also been reconfigured to provide larger layouts and additional junior and one-bedroom suites. Modern technology has been discreetly incorporated through integrated entertainment systems, automated curtains, personalized lighting and climate controls without detracting from the building’s heritage.
Dining remains a centerpiece of the Danieli experience. The renowned Terrazza Danieli rooftop restaurant has been refreshed with brighter interiors that maximize panoramic lagoon views while maintaining its historic atmosphere.
Executive Chef Adriano Rausa has introduced a contemporary Italian menu rooted in Venetian traditions, highlighting seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers. Several signature dishes are finished tableside, while the rooftop bar continues the city’s aperitivo culture with updated interpretations of classic Italian cocktails.
“The reopening of Danieli as a Four Seasons experience marks an exciting milestone after months of dedication and meticulous restoration,” said General Manager Christian Zandonella. “We are delighted to welcome guests back to one of Venice’s most iconic addresses.“
The property’s transformation is not yet complete. A new Danieli Spa is scheduled to open in late 2026, featuring three treatment rooms, including a couples’ suite, along with a sauna and hammam, further enhancing the hotel’s luxury offering in one of Europe’s most visited destinations.
