British Airways unveils fully revamped A380 cabins

Picture1 (39) British Airways has unveiled the redesigned cabins coming to its retrofitted Airbus A380s, marking a major step in one of the airline’s biggest aircraft refurbishment programs.

The first upgraded A380 is expected to enter service in the coming months, beginning a fleet-wide transformation that introduces new or redesigned seats across every cabin, refreshed interiors and upgraded dining and service.

The overhaul extends from the aircraft’s nose to tail, with even galleys, stairways and other shared spaces receiving a new design based on the style introduced across British Airways’ short-haul fleet in 2024.

The biggest change comes in First, where British Airways is introducing an entirely new suite designed to resemble a modern luxury hotel room. Centre seats can be opened up to create a shared space for couples or companions, while stowable tables allow passengers to dine together.

The First suite also includes an integrated minibar and upgraded sleep experience, with a luxury mattress, cotton duvet, new pillow, woven day blanket, cushion and redesigned sleepwear. A new First amenity kit is created with British heritage brand Swaine.

First passengers will also receive an upgraded restaurant-style dining experience. A new “From the Grill” concept offers premium proteins including British roast rack of lamb and grilled salmon, alongside sides and sauces.

The service features new stoneware, fine bone china and glassware, with Champagne including Bollinger La Grande Année and a curated gin selection. British Airways has also introduced bespoke serving pieces and interactive dining elements.

Largest Business class ever
In Club World, the A380 will feature an evolution of British Airways’ Club Suite, with additional storage and improved functionality. The aircraft will have 106 Club Suite seats across the entire upper deck, making it the airline’s largest business-class cabin.

The space is divided into four zones and includes dedicated areas for passengers to socialize and relax, as well as Club Kitchens.

Club World passengers will receive new amenity kits featuring four designs created by British artists through art platform Rise Art, with products supplied by British wellness brand anatomē.

Premium economy World Traveller Plus will receive new seats with larger entertainment screens and privacy wings, plus new bedding, pillows and reusable tote-style amenity kits.

Economy World Traveller will get wider seats, larger entertainment screens, upgraded bedding and fuller pillows, with new blankets designed for additional warmth.

The refreshed First dining service started to be rolled out across British Airways’ entire long-haul fleet from October 1, while new First sleepwear and Swaine amenity kits are being introduced this month.

British Airways CEO Sean Doyle said the A380 project represents one of the airline’s most significant aircraft transformations, with the investment extending beyond First to every cabin.

The carrier said updated First Service Specialist training is also being introduced for First-trained cabin crew, aimed at delivering a more personalized and intuitive service.
